                bi- : two

Vocabulary

 

1.typical /t'ɪpəkəl/ (adj.)

  •  (1) normal for a person, thing, or group

  •  (2) average or usual

  •  (3) happening in the usual way

  •

2.strain /str'en/ (v.)

 (1) a group of presumed common ancestry with clear-cut physiological but usually not morphological distinctions

10.shade /ʃ'ed/ (n.)

  •  (1) an area of slight darkness that is produced when something blocks the light of the sun

  •  (2) something that is used to block strong light

  •  (3) a darkened area in a drawing, painting, etc.

11.bloom /bl'um/ (v.)

19.beam /b'im/ (n.)

  •  (1) a line of light coming from a source (such as the sun or a headlight)

20.marsh /m'ɑrʃ/ (n.)

 (1) n area of soft, wet land that has many grasses and other plants

22.mineral /m'ɪnrəl/ (n.)

 (1) a substance (such as quartz, coal, petroleum, salt, etc.) that is naturally formed under the ground

 (2) a chemical substance (such as iron or zinc) that occurs naturally in certain foods and that is important for good health

 (1) relating to or causing much discussion, disagreement, or argument

 (2) likely to produce controversy

24.offensive /əf'ɛnsɪv/ (adj.)

  •  (1) causing someone to feel hurt, angry, or upset : rude or insulting

  •  (2) very unpleasant

  •  (3) of or relating to the way that players try to score against an opponent in a game or contest

25.uncomprehending /ˌʌnkɑmprɪˈhɛndɪŋ(adj.)
